I Tested This So You Don't Have To. PUSH MetaGrip CMC Thumb Brace Review: Is It Worth It?
I deal with arthritis and chronic pain around my thumb joint. Some days it feels like my grip strength is what you’d expect from someone born in 1900—not a dead person, just a really old one. That’s annoying and limiting in ways that matter day to day.
The brace linked here promised better support and pain relief. I’d looked through the cheaper options in the $20–$40 range. When this one showed up on my Amazon feed at $125, the price alone made me roll my eyes. At $125 it would have needed to magically heal the pain and add five extra inches to my height to be worth it. Still, curiosity won. Rather than spending $25, I spent $125.
The verdict? It was nice. Just as nice as the $25 ones. Nothing about it made it feel worth five times the price. In fact, part of the internal plastic dug into my skin near the thumb crease, which did not bring a smile to my face.
If you’re thinking the more expensive option must be better because someone convinced you it’s “top of the line,” don’t fall for it. Save your money and get one of the cheaper ones that does essentially the same job without carving into you.
If you want support and a bit of stabilization for arthritis in the thumb, a brace can help. But this particular model does not justify the premium. Save $100 and thank me later.
I haven't tested enough CMC thumb braces to be of much help. The only thing I can tell you is that this brace has worked well for me. It's nearly identical to the $125 PUSH MetaGrip one but over $75 cheaper.
